Don’t Let the Heat Catch You Off Guard
When the temperatures rise, so do the risks. That’s why it’s more important than ever to stay focused on heat safety in the field.
Here are a few hot-weather safety tips from the EnerCorp 1Team:
Hydration: 3 waters to 1 sports drink is a smart rule of thumb to replenish fluids and electrolytes.
Breaks:
- 10-minute shaded or cool-area breaks every hour in the heat.
- If temps are 103–115°F or higher, increase that to 15 minutes (or more) to keep core body temps in check.
PPE Tips:
- FR gear is required, but lightweight cotton base layers can help with breathability.
- Long sleeves can actually keep you cooler by blocking direct sunlight.
Plan for the Heat:
- Discuss heat hazards in your JSA and evaluate high-risk tasks like lifting or working in direct sun.
At EnerCorp, safety doesn’t take a summer vacation. Let’s protect each other by staying prepared and putting health first every shift.
