Driver Safety Tips for Back to School

With summer winding down and the new school year kicking off, we wish all students, teachers, and administrators a fun and safe return! We would also like to remind drivers of a couple  back-to-school safety tips.

  1. Watch for School Zones: Always be on the lookout for school zone signs and adhere to the reduced speed limits. Children may be crossing or waiting for buses.
  2. Stop for School Buses: If a school bus has its stop sign extended, you must stop your vehicle and wait until the sign is retracted and the bus begins moving.
  3. Be Mindful of Darting Kids: Kids can sometimes dart into the road unexpectedly. Stay alert, especially near schools and playgrounds.
  4. Observe Crosswalks: Be prepared to stop for crossing guards and children using crosswalks. Give them plenty of space and time to cross safely.
  5. Avoid Distractions: Keep your focus on the road. Avoid using your phone or engaging in other distractions while driving in school zones.
  6. Watch for Bicyclists: Students on bicycles may be on their way to school. Give them space and be cautious when passing them.
  7. Check Blind Spots: Make sure to check your mirrors and blind spots before changing lanes or making turns, especially in areas with high pedestrian traffic.

At EnerCorp, we’re committed to ensuring the safety and security of our communities. Let’s all do our part to make this back-to-school season as safe as possible for students and drivers alike!
