Summer is in full swing, and so our the hammers of our rig-up crew. It is important those teams working in the heat focus on staying cool and hydrated over the summer months to avoid heat related illness.
Here are some ways to prevent heat illness:
Know the signs and symptoms of heat illnesses
- Headache, dizziness or fainting
- Weakness and wet skin
- Irritability or confusion
- Thirst, nausea, vomiting
- Confusion or passing out
- Trembling or shaking
- Stopped sweating
- Monitor yourself and use a buddy system
- Drink fluids often and before you are thirsty. Drink water every 15 minutes
- Avoid beverages containing alcohol or caffeine
- Wear lightweight, light colored, loose-fitting clothes
